Default How much is a Salvaged S2000 worth?

Okay guys, I need some help. I want a cheap S2000 for track use and found a 2001 with 45k miles on it. The only problem is that it has a salvage title due to theft. He said that everything is repaired and the car runs perfectly. Asking price is 14,000 dollars. He also said that the price is negotiable. What do you think is a good offer for the car, and how much does the salvage title actually bring down in the value of the car??

As a rule of thumb, 1/2 of Kelly Blue Book is normal. So look at the value on KKB.com and then cut it in half. Personally, I would like to find the car before it is repaired. I would strip it for the track anyway. So you may want to weight the value of the parts you can sell off when you strip it down for the track.

Good luck

The 1/2 off rule is a bit too much. most salvage cars sell for more than the 1/2 off. i sold a 02 w/20kmi theft recovery w/ some aftermarket parts for $19k. you have to look out for those that are selling theft recoveries that really aren't theft recoveries and have water or frame damage. if you are interested in purchasing a salvage theft recovery still you can call pm and i can hook you up.

when I asked how much my wreck would be to buy back from the insurance company they said $8010. Every single body panel was smashed along with the windshield and some of the front frame and radiator. I can't imagine a fully restored salvage getting just over that. $14k sounds good depending on what happened to the car. Not saying you shouldn't talk them down though. The first offer is never the real one.

To the few that PMed me about sites.

First i would try a search on google. "salvage pools" Salvage yards" To find yards closer to you try putting in you state too. I live in ohio so i searched for "Ohio salvage pools/yards"

Heres a good one in CA
http://www.haprecycling.com/

Here is a directory of yards in the world. Look up your state, start at the top, and start calling the yards to find the best deal.

http://www.a-r-a.org/about/directory.html

This list does not show all of them. It shows about half. for now this give you a place to start. I'll dig up a few more later. Good luck.
