How much for oil change?

My first oil change was done lovingly at an independent Honda garage, owned by an S2000-owner -- Castrol oil, $20 (he warned me that he couldn't guarantee that that price would last forever). I was delighted!
Had the car in to the dealer for the 1-2grindfix and asked the dealer to perform the car's second oil change -- Valvoline oil, $36.
Why did I think the gouging was going to end after I bought the car?
Since doing it myself probably ain't gonna happen, I'm thinking I'll stick with the independent! (Dealer, are you listening?)
