This info makes me want to go for a ride ....My S cost me about 4k per yr for everything.the op makes me upset to hear such things in Greece ...makes me think we can "look" the same way in no time , unless we to change the direction our country is going ...don't know about you but the current admin is just not getting the job done ..they need to move , before gas is 10 dollars a gallon here ...and don't think it can't happen ...
Question to the OP ...how much was gas a few yrs ago in your country ??

Gas is the only thing killing me at the moment...although I have nothing to bitch about if you're paying $10/gallon

in 2006 I got my car for 31.500$ from Germany.. When I brougt it here, I had to pay 7000$ in taxes for importing the car in Greece, although we were in Europe too.. All that and it was cheaper than buying one used from Greece.. If you wanted a brand new, it would cost you 65500$ to get one from Honda. But it was ok, because back then gas price was 3.5$ per gallon and I only had to pay 550$ a year for using public roads. There were tolls but less than half than now and no luxury taxes or other mad stuff that would needed a fortune to pay.. All were happy, and suddenly, all media started talking about Debd.. It seems that government gave fake statistics having to do with debd and country's growth in order to sign, and totally surrender to IMF.. Maybe things were bad, and politicians have been hiding it for long time from people but there was a chance not to be where we are now.. There are rummors that there's Oil in our seas (nobody has searched yet, tho) and we signed that if we can not pay, we'll have to sell our resources in rediculous cost..
I think this is all about.. All these years, we have been taking more and more loans, that people didn't know anything.. Now they want their money back, or our resources, islands etc..
From that moment, all existing taxes were incresed from 50 to even 500% in some cases.. New taxes were added in all of our properties so people try to get rid of them, selling it in extra-low prices, but nobody wants them (this includes cars) ! Sallaries in public companies, were reduced about 30-40% and they asked private companies to do the same.. Unemployment is at least 25% and in young people up to 30 years old it's more than 50%.. That's what media say, so in real life, things may be worse.
Gas increased to 9$ in one day and from that moment it gets more and more expensive every day..
Norway is also expensive, but your average sallary is much higher than here..

A lot of greek members here, got rid of their hondas..I can't do the same..
I love my car and I am never going to sell it due to stupid corrupted sick government!!
I'll keep it in my garage as long as it will take and when things get better, I'll take it for a topdown ride in a twisty road by the sea..

Sometimes I think about selling my S2k since I really don't drive it that often and garage it for the winter.
But, after doing the math I only pay around $1200 in insurance, maintenance, tabs and gas a year max. At that rate I can't really see a reason to ever sell it.

This thread makes me sad.

I pay ~$100 a year to the government for my registration and that's it. The rest of the money is on consumables like tires, brakes, gas. And gas is $3.99 where I'm at right now for premium. Expensive by U.S. standards, but not by world.

Is there any way you can move ?, that situation sounds depressing sorry to say. I think if my region ever got that bad I'd consider moving or running for political office and turning the country upside down.

Don't feel too bad though, my cousin owns an auto repair shop in Southern Italy and his customers only want to pay him with chickens, not cash. It's pretty hard for him to make a living , though he does have food on the table

Here in Portugal we have a really high car tax, the 2nd highest of Europe....

An example,...the normal prices here:

- 2000 Ap1 / 70k Km - 19k dollars
- 2004 Ap2 / 60k km - 25k dollars
- 2008 Ap2 / 50k Km - 43k dollars

Price per gallon of 98octanes gas: from 17,8$ to 19$

Insurance per year (full damages cover) : 1900$-2200$+ (depends)

And now the funniest thing of all: the regular salary: 600$

Is not cheap to have a s2K (consider is a 2nd car for me)

Is your 98 octane a RON? Here is the US we use AKI so that number should be compared to 93-94 octance.
