Default How much can I get a '06 S2000 for?

Hello everyone. My dad's in the market for a new roadster, and initially we were looking at the Porsche Boxster S and BMW Z4 3.0i. Obviously, the S2000 has a great advantage in the price department, so this is also an option at this point.

So, I was wondering what kind of deals other consumers were getting for their S2000s?

I'm not familiar with how the numbers are crunched in Honda dealerships, so I need some advice.

My uncle told me that getting a deal near the invoice price is possible, so what's a good price to begin with (under invoice?).

I know the rudimentary haggling methods and I know when to walk out of the dealer, but is there anything exclusive to Honda dealers that I can use to my advantage?

I checked on Edmunds.com for the '05s, and I saw that the average price is around $500 over invoice. Is this kind of deal possible for the '06s? I know that the changes for the MY06 compared to the '05s are pretty minor, so I suppose we can't go wrong with an '05 as well.

Thank you all in advance.

Go to the Honda website.
Find the listing for all area dealers.
Email each with requests for their best quote.
You may want to wait until you have data on the 06 invoice price. Also, keep in mind there is a 3% dealer holdback based on MSRP.
Be willing to drive outside your local area for the best deal.
Be willing to take more than one color.

If it were me, and price is critical and a new 05 is out of the question, wait until Dec-Jan (dead of winter), then begin your search.

I did that already and there are about ten '05s (all different colors, and six of them at one dealer) within 25 miles of my location. It's not that an '05 is out of the question, but if it's possible to get an '06 for a similar price, we can wait a little bit. Do you happen to know about when the MY06 invoice prices are released? Thanks for the info.

Honda and demand will determine the price after the 06s are released, but they'll probably go for closer to MSRP, rather than invoice, when they are first released. I remember a post from a few weeks that said the MSRP for the 06 will be about $700 over the 05s. Right now you can get 05s for under invoice price (nearly $3K under MSRP), so practically speaking, the 06 may be more than $3K higher than a new 05.

MSRP for the 2006 Model is $935 more than the 2005 (34,600) With a smaller production and a lower allocation Don't expect to hear 2006 S2000 and invoice in the same sentence for a while - if at all. You'll never be able to buy a new S2000 less than you can right now. With the 2006 Model around the corner and less S2000's out there October is the month to get it. You have a Dealer incentive this month so go get it! It goes away next month. I'm already regretting not getting one last month - The lease special on the S2000 was just absurdly cheap!

The incentive is $750.

I bought my 05 for 28989.

I did have an offer of 27371 but it was not my color and had 142 miles on it (yet still being sold as new by the dealer.)

142 miles is really nothing at all. 1000 or so on an S2000 and maybe you got an argument. "new" just means that it has never been titled before. We delivered a Ridgeline that had 7000 miles on it as a New Car. He got a hell of a deal on that one!

I agree - it was new. But with the color not being my choice, I was willing to pay more for one with less miles and the right color.

Wow! What was the MSRP? So, it's very possible to get under invoice on the '05s right now, correct?
