I took my spare out today and weighed it - 24 lbs (spare tire only). I will probably leave it out. I am leaving the jack and tools in the trunk though, as it only weighs about 5 lbs and the jack/extraction ring might be useful. I also store a big can of fix a flat and some rags in that empty space in the tool enclosure. Where I drive, I figure the odds of a flat tire that fix-a-flat won't make driveable, and where I'm out of cell service, are very small. Where do you put the wheel if you do have a flat and use the spare? I dont know if it would fit in the trunk. I'm more worried about somebody stealing my seats or all 4 wheels than I am a major tire failure without cell service.

Yup...you ruin the ratio...I think it may increase the chance your rear end shooting out.....

Yep, you'd also ruin it when you fill the gas tank, and it would in flux as you burn off the gas.

It's also out of whack the second you sit in the driver's seat, and it gets all flumoxed when you have a passenger.

Interesting point about the crash abosorption effect of the spare tire, guys. I was gonna say the same thing as ru... Anyway, for me it's a moot point. No way I'd ever drive without a spare.
