Honestly I can probably count how many times I VTEC in a year on one hand. I can only remember doing it one time so far this year.
My question to you would be why do you drive a 2000? Do you just like the looks? In order for this car/engine to perform it must be driven high into the rpm band. If you don't rev to @ least 6500 7000 rpm's my guess is that you performance is equivalent to a Kia reo.

I probably am in vtec range 20-30 times a day. My normal everyday driving shift point is 6500 rpm 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd.

I've always driven my car like a grandma. I probably VTEC the car a few times per month, not per day.

I honestly do it just for the noise. I live in the city so it's pretty hard.

Maybe 2-3 times a day VTEC in the city but if I leave the city and get to pass by long open streches of road with no one in sight....it gets pretty loud

My guess is probably because he's a grown man and can drive whatever he wants.

I probably hit VTEC about once every other week.

Actually, contrary to another post further down, I am 26. I bought the car when I was 21. Honda's recommended shifting points are below the VTEC power band for every day driving.

I typically shift every 10mph starting by going to 2nd at 20mph. I take care of the car and shift conservatively most of the time. I do heel-toe on every downshift and I downshift through the entire slowing and stopping process.

On the flip side of the coin, when I do VTEC I drive the car like am man possessed. I have done 155mph over a bridge and I have a picture of my speedometer that I took doing 137mph. When I suffer from road rage I go the opposite way and turn my car into a guided missle.

The only time I am not in Vtec is when I'm in traffic or up to cruising speed.
