[QUOTE=Danknee,Nov 21 2008, 03:46 PM] I think someone here weighed an OEM style VIS carbon fiber hood and it was about 3 pounds lighter than stock.... I'm sure some of the different style hoods weigh more than stock.

a/c is heavy but, is also the reason I stopped running old porsche 911s... by that I mean since the a/c was never good enough to keep and I could lose about 50lbs with all a/c components removed. the newer systems may not be as heavy but, they arent light either. Just the compressor is heavy enough but, if you remove it take it all out and plug the recieverdryer and compressor ports. you could always go by an autoparts store and ask to see a s2k compressor and hold it in you hand to get an idea of the weight. Definitely sounds like youre heading the right direction to lose weight. Newer cars weight more. IF you want a really light car you could pick up a 69 911 and strip it then rebuild with glass body panels in a minimalistic project. Ive seen some of those over the years get down near 2000 pounds or 907 kg.
You must be younger than me because I need creature comforts these days. I would have stuck with the old 911s if I was looking for stripped street cars but, good luck and let us know when its done we need pics.
