S is a unique, purpose built car, in its own league. I anticipate that we will have difficulty finding a replacement for it in near future. And we'll get to keep our S for a while.

It's been 8 years, and still, it has no rivals below $50K. (make it $40K if you think Z4 is a rival. I don't. I think Z4 is a nice handling convertible luxury car. 350Z may be a closer rival. But it's heavy, carrying a modified version of the G sedan and F suv platform)

By the way:
I see a lot of people asking for a V6, or 350hp etc. Keeping what makes an S the same (weight and how its distributed, handling and engine response characteristics) and just increasing power is probably not possible at a reasonable price point.

Forever. Unless I get the money for a GTR.

I thought I would keep mine until the lease is up but everything I drive (in the 35k range) feels like crap. Even a 45k Is350, while fast, is just soft and spongy compared to the S.

in Feb. 1974 I purchased a 1973 FIAT 124 Spider. In Feb. 2007 I purchased my 2007 S2000 and my FIAT became a weekend driver, if I can keep a FIAT on the road for 34 years and 250,000+ miles, I can certainly keep a S2000 34 years, that should take me all the way to the electric golf cart in the retirement home. I figure the S2000 is my last car based on my car ownership history.

Feels to me like I saved the best for last.

I'm probably going to keep mine forever, or as long as I can afford to (got a long ways to pay it off). It's just too fun of a car, and even though I've only had it since last April, I'm already feeling attached to it. Sure, faster, more efficient, ultimately "better" cars will come out, but I think it's fair to say that the s2000 has earned it's place in history.

This might sound weird, but I don't see myself buying another car until the next source of energy is a bit more finalized and something performance-oriented is released. That or, somewhere along the line I get a family, have to lose my cars, and consolidate into something like an STi or S4.

BTW, NA Miatas and EF Civics are reaching 20 years old, but are still super competitive Solo cars...

I plan on keeping mine forever. I'm approaching 60 y/o on the outside, 20 on the inside. I love this car---keeps the adrenaline pumping! Wonder if there any laws that prohibit burying me in it? Just kidding, that would be a waste of a beautiful art form.

Yup, you see LOTS of that here on S2KI.

Owners for less than a year, either wreck it or can't afford the car or insurance because of their age.
