Just curious to see how much life you guys get out of your tires. I heard 20k miles is alot? Is this true?

You should get anywhere from 9,000 to 14,000 on the rears. The fronts is 12,000 to 16,000 all depending on your style of driving..

Depending also on your alignment. The factory alignment specs are very broad. Setting your rear toe in at factory minimum and front negative camber at factory minimum will increase tread life. You might even get 20K miles on the OEM's depending on drving habits, road conditions, etc. But you will change handling from mild understeer to neutral of very mild oversteer. Some like this. Some don't.

Hope this helps,
Richard

I got 11k out of my rears but they should have been changed at 9k (mine, not all). The fronts are still on and will be replaced when the rears go again in about 6k.

This is one of those questions that will give you a wide variety of answers. My alignment is somewhat aggressive for track activities, and yet I do a fair amount of street driving. On average my rears are good for about 15,000 miles and my fronts about 30,000.

Keep the following variables in mind
- I have R-compounds for track and autox events
- To get this kind of mileage YOU MUST have the tires removed from the wheels, flopped, and remounted half way through their life span. This will allow the inner edge worn by negative camber to be moved to the outside edge, and will allow the tire to still rotate in the correct direction.

My rears were on the wear bars around 7000-7200 miles.... I ran them until about 8500-8800....

I'm at 16000 miles now, and seem to be doing pretty good with the rears so far. They're starting to get a little bit more slippery, but are hanging in there pretty well. I also drove a bit more agressively when I first bought the car.

I had to replace my fronts at about 12k miles.

I replaced my rear S-02's with S-03 245/45-16's at 24,782 miles.

I replaced the front S-02's with Dunlop SP Sport 5000 Asymmetrical 205/55WR16's at 34,424 miles. At that time, in order to reduce uneven tread wear, I had the alignment adjusted to 4mm rear toe-in and less negative camber in the front.

Your individual results are dependent on your driving habits, your tolerance for riding on worn out tires, and your financial ability to frequently purchase new tires. You may do better or worse than me.
