How long has the S2k had an aluminium hood??

Default How long has the S2k had an aluminium hood??
I've read all the reviews on edmunds etc....and have never found an article that talks about this being a new addition to the MY04...anybody know how long???

The s2000 has always had an aluminum hood regardless of year.

The answer is a little over four years. The aluminum hood first came out on the MY2000 S2000, at the same time as the first S2000.

Does the aluminum hood provide the same protection as the steel hood? Or is it just for the light weight only?

virtually the same protection, with the benifit of less weight... the only downfall is the easy of denting and pitting aluminum...

... not to mention it doesn't shut if you drop it from a height that you normally drop steel hoods from... then you go to press it in and it dents!
