Default How long does the S2000 clutch last?

I would like to hear from those that have replaced their clutches or are planning to.

Being the sports car the S2000 is and the violent launch it takes for it to achieve good acceleration numbers, I would think the clutch is one of the weaker points of this car, endurance wise.

Feel free to add valuable information.

Also, please include the MY of your car and elaborate on what kind of driving you do. (City, HWY, AutoX, track days, etc)

Wow, how many replacements have you done so far, and how significant is the cost?

I was talking with a dealer last week who took a 2004 S2000 with 24K miles in trade on a newer used Porsche. They claim they had to replace the clutch, pressure plate, etc. because the original owner was a "clutch rider." I suspect it was more clutch "abuser."

They are really trying to get me in to see the car. They are asking $24,9xx for it, but said they had room to play with on price. They even offered $4,000 for my 1991 MR2 sight unseen. I smell a problem.

Just 1. I bought it used, and they changed the clutch before I bought it.. then I changed it again after that.

I worked at a Honda dealership before, so labor was only $165 (I paid Honda whatever they paid the tech), $500 for clutch/pressure plate, and I think $150 or so for the bearings.

Soley how you drive the car, My 92 integra gsr had 145k on it when I sold it and it was still strong. It had 14 years of hard driving, no clutch dumps but lot's of flat shifts.

The Integra is completely irrelevant to the situation. Long and the short of it, though, is ...... it depends.

60K, still on my original clutch, and that includes approximately 8000 track miles. It all depends on whether you know how to shift or not.
