How hard to push revs? (new owner)
I am the happy new owner of an '06 Laguna Blue, and I have hit 600 miles. How hard can I push this car on a regular basis? OK to go into VTEC all the time, or should I be careful to prolong engine life?

Don't hold back, its not needed. Its not something that you use up. That said, unless you're trying to drive fast, or you're feeling frisky, shift before 6000. No sense in waking up the neighborhood.
Also most vtecing is done in 1st or 2nd gear, top of 3rd is 75ish. Watch that rev limiter in 2nd, I've hit is twice since getting the car a month ago.

Like they said, it's a Honda.
Drive the hell out of it. I am approaching 97K and it seems to pull harder every day. I have a 45 mile round trip commute to work, so I do not take her into VTEC as much as I would like due to MPG effects that VTEC has....but I do it at least 5-6 times a week just to give it hell.

Congrats on the color choice - you know that the Laguna Blue was a special edition that has 20 more HP, don't you?
I get into VTEC land a fair bit - have not hit the limiter (yet), but it's really fun to drive on a twisty road when you keep it @ the 4500-7000 range the whole time. As far as straight line acceleration, I don't do it much since I've had faster cars, so it's not a great thrill. To me, the S is all about the total experience.

congrats on the car/color! I hit VTEC a few times everytime I drive, mostly getting on the freeway but other times for fun. There's nothing like that scream...
but a friend of mine drives it hard regularly and has never had an issue, so its not like you're going to overuse or wear-out the engine.
like they said...its a honda.
have fun!

watch out for the rev limiter when the car is not fully warmed up. Until you have 2-3 bars on the temp gauge you'll be limited to around 7000 rpm.. its a real suprise the first time you hit it.

I had vtec on staying at 8900 rpms just before the rev limiter for about 30 minutes on a freeway. (Reason was to burn off 1/4 tank to get into a car show, they required less than 1/4 tank). Car drove perfectly after that for another 15K miles without a flaw.
