How durable is the S2000 paint?

I find that the paint on the s2k SUCKS. It's much worse than my E36 M3, with the exception of the bumper. I found that the E36 M3's bumper, more than likely because of it's upright design, gets stone chips pretty badly, but the rest of the car seems much more resistant to scratches, etc.
The s2000 (both of mine) have scratched really easily

with the s2000, its not frontend stone chips you have worry about. for some reason, even though i take great care when i wash my car and always use clean washmits and chamois to dry, i still end up with very light scratches in the clear coat. its only noticable when the sun is hitting the paint, then you can see it. btw this is even on a WHITE car. anyone else have this problem?

My uncle owns a '97 Z3 roadster. He has owned the car since brand new, and it only has 23,000 KM (14,00 miles). It has always been garaged.
I remember one day we had our cars parked next to each other on his driveway, and he had literally 3 times as many rock chips as my '01 S2000 with double the mileage. And I drove my S2000 thru an entire Canadian winter!
So I'd say the S2000 paint isn't all that bad really. Or I was just really lucky.

i must be lucky too...
after 3.5 yrs, my car has some pinpoint chips, but thats about it.
i am careful about not following suvs or big rigs closely- and keep several coats of wax/zaino on the car. and dont drive the freeways every day...
