Default How can you tell what...?

If someone were to buy a final drive gear locally.. how would you be able to tell what final drive it is just by looking at it? For example, let's say I was going to go buy a 4.44 final drive. Is there a certain number of teeth I should look for or anything to make sure that it is indeed the right gear?

Thanks!

If you have the ring and pinion in front of you, just count teeth.

# of teeth on ring gear divided by # of teeth on pinion gear = gear ratio.
