How accurate is Edmunds "True Market Value"?
Did a search but couldn't come up with anything. I was wondering how accurate do you guys feel Edmunds TMV is? I'm wondering is this is a credible bargaining tool. Looking at a 05 with 25k miles in good condition TMV says others are paying 16.3 at dealers but KBB and NADA suggest 20-21k. I do understand kbb and NADA are estimates and opinions, I'm just more confused than ever about what a good condition, low mileage AP2 should go for before taxes. I certainly don't want to overpay.

How can you over pay if you are satisfied with the deal?
If you are buying and think you will sell it in a few years and use it as a daily driver then you might be disappointed!
These cars will start holding there value if they are not modded and have lower mileage, on the other hand high mileage modded cars will be another story.
I'm not saying that our cars are an investment nor that they a collectors car but there will be some that will continue to bring a price of low to mid twenties for years to come.

I don't plan on reselling the car at all. I know I'll be satisfied with whichever S I buy, I don't want to pay more than it's actually worth. I'm trying to avoid the mistakes I made with my last car. I failed to do my research, and it ended up costing me big.

I guess what I'm trying to say is that you are going to see fewer and fewer nice cars, if you find a car that makes you feel warm and fuzy== Buy it!

In my experience, TMV is fairly close, and I usually use it as my negotiating point. It is MUCH more realistic then KBB, IMO.
But like said, if you are looking at 10 cars you can purchase at TMV, and the 11th car is a GEM, or has other features that are a big plus to you, paying a bit more might be worth it to you.

I can't remember the exact figures, but when I bought my 05 in the summer of 2009, TMV was a lot closer to what I paid than KBB or NADA. Right now, KBB says that my car's retail value is over 19k, which is a bit ridiculous.

Kbb seems to over price cars in my opinion. Tmv seems to be accurate. When I sold my prelude kbb said it was worth 8k even though I had 167,000miles on it.ended up selling for 5k.
