LOL iuno about you guys but when there's a clear 1/4 mile road i'll grip it and RIPP ITTTTTTT and after probaly a couple hour drive going 70-100 my shifter gets warm

Transmissions get hot. Besides transferring forces, it's what they do best. Friction is a sonofabitch.

If its warm outside, metal shifters can get really hot in a parked car.

But even in cold weather, if I drive on the highway, around 20 minutes at 4000rpm, shifter will get slightly warm. I presume it's normal.

Having driven many cars, I do think the S2000 shifter can get warmer than other cars. But I think after awhile you do get a feel for what should be normal temp and what isn't. Since the shifter is directly attached to the transmission, and you sit right next to it I think there is slightly more heat than "normal" cars put off.

if youve got time, i would check out the white plastic clip ring on the shifter dust cover boot. ive had a couple of customer with similar symptoms and i removed it to find the clip ring was cracked/broken, heat from underside was seeping upward.

Stock aluminum knob? That one will get fairly warm after some driving, and f#%@#% burn-your-hand hot after sitting in sunlight for a few hours. This is why the Ti and leather-wrapped knobs are popular.

My shift knob never get's warm from just driving of course sun will do it but the cupholder area get's a little bit warm but nothing ever get's even close to hot at all.
