Hood prop? Mingster?

This hood can stand so much farther up and reveal so much more of the engine bay.
Anybody up for making a new prop for the hood? I ended up sticking a huge stick in there to work on changing the oil.
Maybe we can get one made out of leather!?
Really this should be posed to Mingster but if there are any other people out there that wanna try. I WANT ROYALTIES!

I was considering trying either one or two (extending) pneumatic arms, which you can buy in several lengths. However, I wonder if you'll still be able to "drop" the hood from 2 foot, or whether there will be enough pressure in the arms to prevent you doing that.

That's one thing I really liked about the Integra... Two places to insert the hood support. One let it come up normally and the other supported the hood in a near, if not totally, vertical position. Wonder if we could do something like that.... hmmm...

I guess you guys dont get it. I dont want to really mess with anything in the car! I dont want to drill one hole in this car more than I must. So far there are 2. One is for a hood pin the other is for a security light in the center consoul.
If we must we could always put something in one of the 10mm bolt holds under the hood that is not used.
I think that any hydrolic things are going to prevent it from closing unless they release all their pressure 2 feet above closure!

Have a look at the KG Works lifters. As the hood lowers their force vector changes from about 45 degrees to almost horizontal, so they won't interfere with the dropping of the hood.
As for drilling holes, you could easily make a bracket which mounts using the hinge bolts, and hence requires no extra holes in the hood. I'm not sure where you'd mount the lower end of the lifters, but I'll have a look at my S and see if there's a way.

WHat about a hinged replacement for the oem one? one that folds around at the end and clips back on itself. We could use the oem moutn and clip.. or maybe some kind of extension for the oem that we could slip on when we wanted to position the hood higher.

I just looked. There is a hole on the bulkhead next to the fuse box. I guess this is where the manual indicates it should go. I tried to get the arm out of the present anchor point, but it didn't work. It may need a little brute force and twisting (which I wasn't going to do). You also have to prop the hood open with your head while you're doing it! But...it will work!
