In my opinion the reason why the s2000 does not live up to its reputation in the UK are.
1. Poor Promotion
2. Lack of european colours
3. Lack of knowledge - modifications
4. Parts database does not give dealers the flexability in searching for parts.
5. Lack of aftermarket parts and also the lack of information
6. Last place on the planet to received mugen parts - still working out how much to bump the prices up!

Even with UK prices, the s2000 should be up there with TT and BMW Z3 sales.

What do other people think?

Ricardo, RE: sales, Honda UK had to beg to get the first year allocation up to 900 from 500, similiar scenario this year in numbers (but not the begging )as Japan has slowed right down in its sales, Honda UK sells as many as it can legitamely get (without sourcing them from abroad) but I can agree on a few of your points

1) If it originally was

Did you read todays article in Autocar RE Boxster S, no complaints about them liking the BoxsterS, but I find the price they quote is ridiculous,

I didn't realise that honda UK sold that many cars!

But when you look on the brighter side, most people still can't recognise the s2k. Pretty cool!

I am not too bothered bout the reviews. I can handle my baby in both wet and dry conditions. But I do take precaution around wet corners.

I got trashed by a Z3M coupe twice (wet and dry). That bimmer can accelarate and corner like no other.

At the same time I trashed a Z3 2.8 in the wet. I must say my opposition (driver) did not realised I meant business from the start and I was glued to his back bumper the entire journey. I could match his pace any time, any place and any where.

Had a friendly encounter with a boxster S. Pretty Quick from the start. I was constantly working the box to keep my revs above 7K. I must say it was hard work but fun. Any way his machine is worth over 50K.

The rarity of the car is one of the pleasures of owning it.
Having gone from a Z3 that by the time I sold it I found myself driving in conveys of them I find it
As to the Z3M, having driven one in anger round the Grand Prix circuit I can only beg to differ. I found it very disappointing, a great engine but a very poor chassis.

Don't take me as someone who poodles around, I come from a racing background and this is the first car that I could afford that fits my bill for a racer on the road.

The service I get from Crown in Bushey is second to none and so refreshing from BMW attitude that it is a pleasure for you to do business with them. My S2k has just spent a week having a new gearbox, clutch, the belt recall and a couple of minor niggles and the whole process was excellent.

Autocar seem to contradict themselves when it comes to the S2K and also have real difficulty in letting anything better
a Porsche. As a subscriber I often wonder whether Porsche are major shareholders with the number of articles that feature their cars.

Forgot to mention. Having seen a Yellow S2K on a recent US trip it is stunning and if available here I would be ordering one.

I saw the article in autocar. I am a big fan of Boxsters and about 2 years ago autocar made out that the
boxster 2.5 was a much defined car when compared to the s2k or TVR. I don't want to get into the politics, but If I had the cash then a boxster S would be on my menu!

Anyway the article did rank the s2k with the Boxster!

I had both the grind and the clutch noise. The noise has definately gone but as to the grind, it was something that happened occassionally so I've yet to find out. Also got a new set of alloys as well. I'm also looking at keeping mine for 5-6 years unless the yellow comes here.
