Honda has two page apread S2000 ad in Jan Road & Track!
Looks Mazada's RX8 advertising onslaught has provoked Honda to use their deep pockets to run two page s2k spread! Seems like all the ubiquitous RX8 hype has provoked Honda to keep up with the Joneses!

Most important word in the above post.....
"Hype"
We all know the truth is that a car with 4 seats is no sports car.
All joking aside, anyone driven the RX-8, its gotten some nice reviews. I'm sorta blind being that I am so in love with my baby right now. I also didnt realize that it also has a 9K redline. (Sorry MY04 guys)

I drove the RX8 when I was car shopping but I just wasn't that impressed - it shifts nicely and accelerates well but I just didn't like driving it, so I ended up buying the S2000 without ever seeing nor driving one. Must say it's one of the best decisions I've ever made.

same for me - I test drove the 8 and found that it handled very nicely, very smooth acceleration, and I really enjoyed the sound of the rotary at work.
BUT - I just didn't fit in the car. Played with the seat for quite a while and just couldn't make it work. I found the seats, rather than hold you in snugly like our seats do, were too firm, and it didn't even feel like my arse was touching the bottom of the seat. I also thought the whole rotary motif on the interior was way overdone, but I did like the gauges. All that, coupled with the oil consumption problems, heat in the cockpit, lousy mileage, and the horsepower issues put the 8 in 2nd place, in front of the Z, and behind the S as far as I'm concerned.

I went to the Mazda dealer to check out the RX-8.
Honestly, the car looks crappy. It just looks crappy...I don't know what else to say.
A few days later, I saw an RX-7...now that, is a nice car.
Ford has really fuqed things up at Mazda...the RX-8 is ugly, cheap materials, cheap build quality...fuq that car.

Yea, now that American Honda has convinced Honda we need such a different car than the rest of the world, they had darn well better sell a lot more of them to justify the cost of two different powerplants and stuff...

I drove a RX-8 and it was exactly what I expected: what the Prelude would have been if Honda had given it another generation of redesigning. In fact my thought was that the RX-8 is the perfect "Next Car" for Prelude junkies like I was. Unfortunately (for Mazda) I'd promised myself that my next car would be a convertible, otherwise I'd probably be in a RX-8 right now. Great chassis, great engine, ok shifter, excellent seats, good price, and extremely responsive and agile. It's a very, very good coupe.
