I fought with AHM for 6 months about fixing a paint defect. The DSM said no and AHM Customer Relations basically said they couldn't overrule the DSM. Then I contacted BBB. Dealer contacted me within a week and problem was fixed at N/C to me within 2 weeks. So try BBB.

Did you file the complaint with the BBB about the dealership or AHM? If it was the dealership they probably just did it to keep the black mark off thier record and ate the cost....

I filed it against AHM with the BBB in CA. The dealer estimated the repair cost, contacted AHM and they approved it to be done under warranty at the expense of AHM. I made it very clear with BBB that I had no complaint against the dealer.

First of all, as frustrating as this is, I wouldn't even do anything now. The tranny is getting fixed under warranty so there is no issue. If you don't get something in writing from AHM I would consider your warranty to still be intact. I don't think a verbal notification would legally void a warranty. I would communicate this understanding to the dealer in writing! My guess is that they will not void it in writing because it would give you something to take to court (or the local consumer advocate reporter).

This looks like a case of corporate intimidation or just a DSM who's an a--hole. If they refuse to do warranty work in the future, check out Nolo.com's law center .http://www.nolo.com/lawcenter/index.cfm/ca...9B9048DA9877F61
There's links to all sorts of info including how to represent yourself. Or maybe get a known lawyer to write a letter to AHM on your behalf etc.

Anyways, good luck and keep us posted.

S4 Mike - You are keeping an exceptionally cool head about this considering the circumstances. Good for you! I predict that this attitude will allow you to prevail. I will be very surprised if you are given anything in writing from the DSM.

S4 Mike,

Here's some ammo for you. The UTQG treadwear rating on the stock s-02 tires is 150. Meaning, the manufacture's expected tread life is 150% that of a tire rated at UTQG 100. To figure out the estimated "expected" tread life, take the UTQG number an multiply by 100. Some manufactures use a multiplier between 100 and 108. In other words, a 60,000 mile tire often has a UTQG treadwear number of 560 (560 * 107 = @60,000), and a 35,000 mile tire often has a UTQG number of 340 (340 * 102 = @35,000).

With that, the s-02 tires'150 rating times 103 (average number) = 15,450

Thus, your treadwear is at the manufacturer's expectations.

Tell the idiot DSM to learn about the car. It sucks that most in the Honda service organization don't know much about our beloved car.

Oh yeah, and Honda's 3/36 warranty is the shortest I know of in the industry.

To make matters worse, it's subject to denial at the whim of a DSM
