A couple years ago, I was going back and forth about the Honda Optional Equipment advertisements that were on the back of the magazines.

He was totally clueless what I was talking about. Wish I had a mag on hand to show that it was a genuine Honda ad. Oh well.

On a positive note.....

I test drove an MY05 S a week ago and one of the first things the salesman did was show me the secret compartment and the gas door button. I already knew where they were of course, but I was impressed non the less.

Say a mid-size H dealer will sell 1,000 new cars a year just for math purposes. At an avg $22,000 per new car (Civics up to loaded Ridgelines) that is $22M in car sales alone (this excludes service contracts, maint, service work, accessories....).

When running a $22M business, isn't it Business 101 to hire and retain decent salespeople? I've walked into a dozen H dealers and they are all the same. Don't get me started on non H dealers...

I run my own P&L unit within a large corporation and I occasionally wonder what makes auto sales so different from other high value sales.

If I could buy my next S2000 online I would.

Just bought a '02 S2. I'm reading about the "Secret Compartment" and I'm not sure what you guys are talking about. Anyone want to be a kind soul and let me in on the secret?

It's actually not THAT "secret" since it's described in the owner's manual. I'll give you a hint: there's a small, plastic windscreen attached to it (and you can put your weed in it).

By the way, congrats on the new car!

When I went to buy my Miata the salesman opened the hood, pointed to the air filter and proceeded to tell me about the "twin carbs" the miata has.

Keep them coming this is great stuff, btw I am a dealer , there are bad business owners and good business owners, unfortunatly most people are more concerned with saving $100.00 than getting good service when buying a car, which allows the silly car sales people to sound so stupid and still sell cars.

Shipping on a car depends on distance. you can get a car sent cross country for about $1000.00
