Default Honda dealer Shipping?

Went to a local Honda dealer for some part today.. my list makes a total of $196.74.. I went there and they told me total is $274.89... I asked why? and they charging me $78.14 for shipping and handling...

thing is All my items are gasket kit, retainers x16 and Cotter x32... not heavy stuff or big stuff...

I have bought from them before and they didn't charged S&H before...

is that OK? keeping in mind in picking them up at the dealer and not getting delivery...

If your picking it up at dealer they shouldn't charge your for shipping if that the case then peoples would of just order it on there own online.

Tell the dealer to put it against their honda parts stock order. They dont pay shipping, they are ripping you off.

I have never paid shipping on a honda part in 10 years. Engine, soft top, bumper, doesnt matter.

How did you get a total of $196? Whenever I ask a dealer for a price on a part they quote over list. I imagine that they were just trying to charge you their usual screw-you mark up. It isn't uncommon to get the dealer to match online prices or at least list. I've only had one good experience when dealing with five different parts departments in person here on Long Island.

As a result, I order things online. It's faster and easier for me. If it isn't enough to warrant shipping, I order from estore.honda.com and pick it up at the dealer. If it's just maintenance stuff then I wait until I have enough that it makes sense to order online and pay the shipping and handling.

usually dealership will make you pay for the parts before they can order them.
if you haven't pay them yet, tell them to keep the parts.

button line, you should not have to pay for shipping when you are picking parts up from dealer.

btw, which stealership is this?

what is wrong with dealer's parts department nowadays???

A few I've called and went to, all have bad customer service. (rude)
This is my thought. store manager doesn't care because if we are already in the parts department getting oem parts then that mean we have their branded vehicle(s) and will return to get parts times after time regardless of how we get treated.

I am so fed up and running out of dealer to buy parts from...

^^^ this that guy was in a bad mood and I didnt paid nothing.. just went online and order all my parts from there... $15 shipping to my house... they wanted $78.14 plus I had to drive around 20-30mins to get it... bottom line I saved gas and $$ ordering online... plus im not in a rush so i can wait for my parts

and Dealer is in Milford CT...

for them it was strange someone ordering S2000 parts.. plus I order AP1 and AP2 stuff and had to say it was a custom engine im building since the guy didnt wanted to sell me the AP2 retainers and cotter... reason? they aren't compatible with AP1

im doing the AP2 upgrade on my head and spark plug hole fix

Called my local dealership today, they just took my info down and added my items to their normal daily orders. No shipping should be charged.

If you're in CT, then ordering from Majestic is the way to go. Even on heavy things like fluids, shipping won't be that bad.
