Default HKS -- SLANDER! Why?!

I knew I could get you into look!

So I just picked up a S2K, I have an HKS on all my cars including an EVO, STi, IS300, and some eg and ek civics...

The HKS produced power on all of them, none of the lost any.

I came on here to search and read how they do on our car, and I found countless negative feedback statements.

How could that be?

What proof, or stats, have been produced to make these statements? Why would HKS continue to sale it and not revise the design?

I wanted to run HKS again, but I won't if I can see or am given valid reasons to stay away!

Thanks

Lets put it this way, there have been a lot of negative feedback on the HKS. I have read very heavily on this topic and the general consensous is the exhaust does not gain, and will not lose power. You will get one of the best sounding exhausts for the S2k for sure.

If you want the power gains, you will need to go with a single exit exhaust. You'll gain power while cutting the weight down considerably.

What did you hear bad about it? In all truthfulness, most aftermarket exhausts for the S2000 don't yield any fantastic power gains as it would on most other cars.

^^^ i agree, if its exhaust you're looking at, you can search any and all exhaust and it will not yield much power if any at all.

I think it is not that HKS and the sort is producing products that do not yield much power, its because our cars are great right off the lot, so it is hard to make improvements

Search hard for actual, back-to-back, same-car, same-day dyno numbers (not different cars and/or different days and/or different dynos) before all the followers jump in and say "It LOSES tons of power! Just trust me even tho I have no proof!"

Any gains/losses with this or almost any dual exhaust will be plus/minus 1-2 hp....which is well with in the range of error on any dyno (yes thats right, 1-2 hp GAINS are within a dyno's error range too ).

Get a lightweight single if you want the maximum performance benefit.
Get the HKS if you want the sound.

Thanks for the feedback......

it would seem the people making the statements would have said they gained nothing but sound...

but numerous statement made claims of loosing, which makes no sense...

just doing my homework before i make any purchases..

in terms of sound and quality of construction, no one slanders it. they are both superb.

as for power gains... there are none. maybe with a test pipe, but that would be the test pipe adding the power.

No gains. Sounds good, very heavy. It's an audio replacement for stock. That is all.

^^^^ You said it perfectly. Just an audio upgrade, an AWESOME audio upgrade. It is the best sounding exhaust for the S2k IMO. Looks good and sounds deep, but not too loud. No exhaust will give you any "noticeable" gain.

I first installed a custom made Apexi N1 Single, sounded nice, but a little raspy and loud for my taste. Then, I installed a dual Invidia, and the noise was brain numbing, then I went with my HKS. Couldn't be happier.
