Thumbs down HKS Exhaust and Comptech Coilovers

I just installed a HKS Cat-back exhaust with the resonator/bulbous can/air trap?? thing removed and the pipes re-welded. I love the sound and was wondering if there is any hope of HP gain.

Also I wanted people's opinions on this exhaust Vs. others.
Please site specifics if you can as far as pluses and minuses go.

Also I have a chance to pick up Comptech (I think, I may have incorrectly heard the name when described to me) coilovers and wanted people's opinions on that as well.

Thanks in advance for your replies

Comptech doesn't make coilovers... They do adjustable springs though.

that maybe what i was mistaken with, I am pretty sure he said they were comptech but I am not positive on the coilovers part so you are probably right.

Is there any opinion out there regarding these two products Vs. others??

- I have the comptech adjustable springs (coilovers) and they're comfortable, a lot softer than stock.

My first exhaust was a HKS Hi-power. To me that it was one of the best sounding exhaust I've ever had on my car.

I have or had both products. I agree with the coilovers to soft. I want a new exhaust. I never thought about taking the resonator off. Also I heard a lot about the exhaust loosing HP. I think its true because I drove in my girlfriends S and she has the Comptech exhaust and her car pulls harder between 4 to 6000 rpm even though Im S/Ced.

Thanks people

The guy I got the pipes off of said that, with the resonator removed, he gained +3 hp. I have yet to put the car on dyno at all yet so I do not know the base HP my car has to gauge any increase.

It looks and sounds great though!

Feel free to continue the comparisons. this will help me in future mod ideas

The hks would have to be my favorite. Out of all the exhausts out there for the s2k it's probably the one with the deepest tone. As far as hp gains, I don't think we can exspect to much from any exhaust, because honda has already worked the s2k into getting any hp they can out of there engines. true they can probably get more, but I don't think bolt ons will effect the s2k as much as they would effect a type-r or something else.

I am feeling better and better about my HKS purchase thanks for the nods!!

I was hearing all this stuff about how great Ti cat backs are and how it should be Amuse or nothing I was starting to wonder if I should hold out for the dual Ti's But I could not pass up the price I got on these HK's = $250.00 = deal of the year IMHO.

Plus it would be a year before I could afford the Ti stuff.

The jury is still out on the adjustable springs I described at the start. I do not want to go out of pocket for the springs if real coilovers are the way to go.

I am wondering though-- since I purchased this setup with the large resonator already cut out/off how much that has affected the sound: More quiet vs. Louder???

It is still really deep and throaty but only in lower revs (below 6k rpm) after that it just calms down and the roar of my intake takes over. I am sure it is still making noise but the low VROOOM goes away. Is this common?
