My friend in South Carolina was responsible to the damages to the driver's vehicle when his dog was struck by the driver.
Essentially, the dog's owner could be held responsible for the damages to your car.

Lol I'm not gonna lie I'd probably do the same. Its the owners responsibility to make sure his dog doesnt run out in the street. Since the owner was no where in site, there was no reason for him to stop. The dog was alive and could have bit OP seeing as how he just got hit..
