Hit a Dog
#11
Start by checking his tags to see if the owner's info is on there. If you're really motived take the dog to a vet as so many are chipped these days.

ugh. I've seen dogs running free on some really busy streets near where I live. I caught one once, took it to the owner who promptly gave me a mean look like "why you bothering me..." :/ I always try to catch it because one of my dogs died after getting hit by a car when it somehow got out of the yard. stupid owners.

Sorry to hear dude.
They won't total the car, I owned a body shop before and the damage illustrated does not show that it is worth more than 65% value of your vehicle. Simple fender, light, and bumper with lip will run you about 2,000 or maybe if you have a good body shop that knows the adjuster approximately 2500 to 3000. With this being said, just get the money from the insurance company and upgrade everything to what you want it to look like. There are after market parts stores that can also get fenders and bumpers for very cheap. What ever you do, if you allow the insurance company to drive to your location and check out the car they will low ball the shit out of you. Make an appointment with the body shop, tell them the problem, and they will help you out because no matter what they will get good money from this even with or without your deductible. you can tell them you'll get all the parts just install and they can actually pay you.
Meaning,
Insurance Company gives the body shop 400 dollars for the fender, you get the fender for 150. there is 250 that the body shop just pocketed. same with bumper, and lip and headlight.
