Default Hit by debris from a comp. semi truck

I was hit this morning on my way into work with a piece of debris off the back of a company flat bed semi truck. I was able to get the truck's tag number. I already called the highway patrol and they told me there was nothing else they could do since I wasn't able to get the other guy to stop.

Does anyone know where online I can lookup the tag number for free. I want to be able to get in touch with the company who owns the truck and see if I can get something out of them.

BTW, it damaged the paint on the front right fender pretty bad to two different areas and also smacked into the side mirror.

Any help is much apprecaited!

I'd hate to break it to you, but you'll most likely not get anything from them. A lot of times these trucks will carry signs "Not responsible for rock chips" or something to that effect. Was the truck marked?

the piece that hit me was some of it's cargo that it was carrying. It flew out if the top of a wrapped bundle of something.

The truck wasn't marked...

Just because you make a sign saying you're not responsible for something, that doesn't mean it's true. If the load was not secured correctly I imagine they could be liable.

This is simple, call your insurance company and tell them what happened, they will get farther than you.

hopefully you know which state the truck is registered in because your insurance carrier would need that info

yeah it's the same state that I'm in right now.

I called my ins co & they're going to try to go after the other guy's ins co. I tried to incentivise them by telling them that they were going to have to pay for it (after my deductible) if they didn't go after the other ins co. We'll see what happens here... I'll probably get the shaft.
