Default The history of the S2000

Does anyone know alot about when and how the S2000 was created and etc... I wanted to up my knowledge about my car. The only thing i know is that the Z4 was a spin off the S2000 and not the other way around. If there was a thread about this already give that to me...thanks!

Go to a bookstore, or go to amazon.com and buy this book.

http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/ASIN/076...2228233-8269712

It will tell all.

That's the only thing you know huh ..... (hint, NO, don't tell that to anyone else! neither was a "spin-off")

I 2nd getting the book, but in short, in the 60's Mr. Honda made a chain-drive roadster called the S600 (there might have been a S500 but I don't "know" that) and a few years later an S800. They weren't around for too long and weren't officially imported to the states as far as I know.

Then Honda re-invinted IT's roadster in the mid-90's to what we have today.

Try Google and here on S2ki.com w/ a search, there's a wealth of info floating about this subject.

go to:
http://www.s2000.com/s2k.php
there is no need to buy a book on it, unless you want to... but all the info is in that link, how the concept was thought up, how they got the idea, etc

Yes, but that site did not go into details about the SSM and all. I think the book provides different information that is not in that link.

read dennis ortenberger's book on the lotus elite...there's an interesting section on the elite's influence on the japanese auto industry ....toyota and honda in particular...they both bought early production elites for "engineering evaluation"..... [mr.honda drove the test elite to work every day.] i truly believe that the lotus elite 1959-1962] has had more cumulative effect on the s2000 concept than any other single car.[with the s-5,6,8,series as a touchpoint]...com'on by..i've got a '00 s2k and a '59 SII....we can look at the similarities..[and they are profound.]
