Honda was a small japanese man. He made a tiny little moterized scooter i think in the 60's but i may be off on the date. Eventually the company grew into what it is today. Sorry that's not much, but it's all i know.

honda is the only japanese company untouched by american ownership/partnership other than nissan.
honda is actually more of a motor company than a automobile company. the company started making motorized bikes back in the mid 1900s.

Get a hold of Daniel F. Carney's "Honda S2000", an inexpensive but invaluable read. It begins with information on the history of Honda and goes on to the S2000 and touches in passing on the NSX. There is a great deal of very good information in this interesting book. It is a must have for any Honda fan in general and a S2000 fan/owner in particular.

It all began in 1946 with tiny bicycle assist engines and now Honda is the world's largest manufacturer of engines.

Nissan is in partnership with Renault, from France. Your statement is still true, tho.

The History Channel has a series "Voyages". One of the shows was about Mr. Honda and his company, from how he started right up to about 2000. I've seen it a couple times and is very informative. No idea when it will be rebroadcast.
