Default high speed with top down

i was wondering with the top down and going high speed how bad the acceleration and everything would be comparing to when the top is up (full throttle until 6th)

I think the wind will give you quite a good time ... Of course acceleration and speed times are much better with the top up nice and tight, you don't want the air to be passing through the cabin at high speeds. Oh well, you just need to try it safely to experience it.

Topspeed with the top down is about 245KM/H (I did 240, but speed was very slowly increasing). Also found out that you cannot hold the speed going up a mountain in 6th gear at 220KM/H. You really have to switch back to 5th gear, but then you can still accelerate! Looks like 6th is more an overdrive.

You're noticably slower on acceleration with top down, but only above 160KM/H (100MPH) that you really notice it. But that's because drag will start playing a big role at these speeds.

I did 130mph at a track event with the top down; which was about 5mph slower than top up. I now know why open wheel racers have all of those aerodynamic aids on their helmets! My helmet was getting buffeted around quite a bit.

Wait until you do 160mph on a bike and you will truly understand what head buffeting is all about.

Been there, done that, at 165mph. The wind was amazingly intense... I was ducked behind the windscreen, and for cuiosity sake poked my head up... whooah-- not a smart idea.

I find the car accelerates noticeably slower on the interstate with top down, say around 70 or 75 mph, especially in 6th.

I think some of us at the irvine event got it going faster than 130. I think the top speeed with the top down would be around 140 mph.

I've noticed that in the same time it took my s2k to do
150 with the top up, my car only did about 135 with the
top down ( with no tonneau cover or aero screen )
It was a little windy that day so I don't know how accurate
this test actually was. but boy did it feel nice, though with
the top down, the wind can be a little punishing at those
speeds.

RedDevil in his supercharged S2000 did 154mph with his top down and could have gone faster. I thought someone posted a video of his speedometer increasing to 154mph @ 7000rpms or so.

Shatten, Insomniak, HondaGuy, and I witnessed this. I saw it first hand when he flew by me.
