Hi im currently a 98 gs300 owner and im planning to trade it in next month for a blk/blk s2k. But before i purchase one i want to have some of the questions i often ponder answered... I've been reading your posts for about 2weeks now and i think this site is great! i appreciate any feedback you guys can give.

1) is it possible for me to actually get an s2k for msrp? and when i do see one what are the chances of me being able to test drive it?
2) i noticed that there are a variety of after-market products for the s2k, such as the typical intake, exhaust and header setup. my question, if i were to blow about 4,500 (estimate) to purchase the Mugen intake, header and exhaust will i feel a difference? of course excluding sound..
3) also i have seen several posts on the comptech supercharger... should i consider the Mugen stuff above of juss go forced induction? looking at the comptech site i noticed that i would spend almost the same getting the sc compared to the Mugen parts...
4) are there front and side marker clears available? i noticed that none of the s2ks pictured have them? if so will i need to do major mods to have them fit correctly?
5) what is the actual or best 0-60 or 1/4 mile you have seen or done? i dunno if you guys saw the sibling rivalry article in Road and track but they claimed 0-60 in 4.9.. is that really possible
Once again thanks in advance for the replys...

MSRP will depend on where you live, but it will probably take some effort. If you are in snow country, I would guess it would be pretty easy. If it is sunny... good luck.

As for a test drive... not likely... regardless of where you live. I would actually be wary of buying the car from anyone who DOES allow a test drive, since you would not know how it was treated on those drives.

If you have the time, find someone to give you a test drive, then try to buy it at MSRP somewhere else. These things should be (and probably will be) mutually exclusive.

most of these questions have been covered at some length in the past.

this forum has a great 'search' function. best suggestion is to search for the various issues you raise - you'll (in most cases) get a HUGE amount of data.

i'll try to sum up some of what you'll see...

1 - you can find a car at MSRP, but it will probably take some work. test drives are hard to find, the general suggestion is to find someone local who owns the car and go for a ride or find an exotic rental car place and rent one.

2, 3, 4 - the aftermarket mod market for the S2K is currently "immature" (i.e. not a lot of options, high prices). this could be due to any (or a combination) of the following: recent release, small market size, a car without a lot of weaknesses, an audience uninterested in "r**ing" this car.

5 - talk to Sev.

Just to add my two cents.

-As for getting a car at MSRP, for me, I live in Florida and called EVERY Honda dealer in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. I ended up buying my 2001 blkblk for $400.00 UNDER MSRP from Bob Barbour Honda in Greenville, NC.

-As for the aftermarket parts, that's really personal preference. My personaly opinion is that to spend $4,500 on a Mugen Intake, header and exhaust is a complete waste of money. The money would be better spent on the Comptech Supercharger which is somewhat of a long term reliability question. So far the only thing I've done is install and tune a Apexi V-AFC (which you can buy for $290 on the groupbuy) and I find that a 4.9 0-60 time and mid to high 13 sec. 1/4 are very attainable. That's not to say that I have duplicated the 4.9 but my car only has 3500 miles on it and I haven't spent much time trying to launch the car and have still easily attained low 5's.

The most important thing to consider when buying this car is something that can't be spoken in words very well. The car is such an amazing all around car. It's quick, it's fast, it's nimble and it's a Honda. You will read alot on this board about mechanincal problems and difficulty with oversteer and wet weather tractability. I personally have experienced NONE of these and my car is daily driven and pushed to the edge quite often. I think most of the owners here have had a wonderful, trouble free experience and would be hard pressed to give up their S2000.
