Default HELP! wheel well crap.....

so, i jacked up the back, took the wheel off, to do some cleaning. noticed the crap load of gummy black crap all on the inside of the wheel well. i scraped some of this with a scraper, and it easily comes off. underneath it, its silver, almost a metal, but not as hard. not sure if i can continue with this/if its a good idea. i was assuming that its probably from the tires and crap off the road. i guess i need to know what the rear wheel wells look like, especially on a brand new s2k. please guys, any help would be very much appreciated. thanks!
