So I picked up my s2k 2 weeks ago as of today. Finally got it on the road wednesday after waiting for the lien release. Now when I checked the car out the first time, I did not hear this noise. When he brought it to my house and i took it around the block, I dont recall hearing the noise, yet I was in la la land because of getting the car.

When you are driving and you take your foot off the gas at 3-4k rpm's you hear a noise coming from under the car. I know everyone is familiar with how the car sounds when its slowing down with the wining down of the engine/tranny. It sounds alot louder with a vibration coming from under the car... trying to pin point the exact location.. but I am not familiar yet with the car to know different sounds than normal.

If I can get a video up, I will try to post.

Any thoughts.

 

the first time i drove this car was on the test drive, no unusual noises at all. that was a couple weeks ago

the noise he's hearing is strange, i have a 2001 ap1 with intake and test pipe and do not have anything close to this noise-wise. its only on decel. almost sounds like clutch buzz to me, but its VERY loud, mine will buzz a little bit here and there, but nothing like his does. sounds more like a metallic sound, its hard to explain

This sounds familiar, like I've read about it in another thread. Something about the diff maybe?

 

This sounds like clutch buzz, its very normal and not harmful at all. My S makes the exact same sound in the same RPM range.

 

i think its a lot more than just a clutch buzz, i drove and rode in this car, its 20x louder than mine. he had it checked out at a shop today, they seem to think something in the exhaust/heat shield is rattling....


who knows we'll find out

 

does it have a lightweight flywheel ?

if so that might be the cause

i just got a ap2 last week and it has a light flywheel ,... its loud and vibrates the clutch pedal a bit on deceleration

between that and some clunking in my rear suspension my car is noisy )

 

sounds like clutch buzz to me....I've been listening to it for 2 years now, sometimes it doesn't do it, sometimes it's quiet, sometimes it's loud as hell.

 

Yup, I have the same noise in my MY00. I knew there was a clutch buzz issue with the earlier models so I figure that is what it is. Some periods of time it won't happen, others it will.

I got rid of my clutch buzz by installing my HKS 75mm single.
