I can't comment as to whether or not it will break down the plastic, however, it did clean my rear window extremely well. It was very "foggy" before I cleaned it and I couldn't remove it with normal soap and water. It has been sometime since I did this and I have been very happy with the clean/clear rear window. (Soon afterwards I applied an inexpensive static tint to it as well which shows no wear from raising and lowering the top)

Does this mean my window is going to fall off? j/k

Thanks for the information WhiteRocket

When I bought my S2000 used the rear window was also a mess. Got the 2 step Meguiar's (a cleaner and a polish #17 and #??). Spent an hour or so on it, carefully, and removed the vast majority of the scratches and all the haze/yellowing. It wouldn't remove the creases, though. Added a Muz mat (any soft cotton towel or mat will do) and a roll tube to keep it nice, and hit it with Plexus at least once a week. Eventually, I got the dealer to replace the window, based on the creases. So now the new one is creasing Sigh. IAC, I've also used the 3M combination on similar materials, and both the Meguairs and the 3M are essentially similar products that will do the job of cleaning up the vast majority of the mess on your window. The hardest part is getting to the inside of the window -- the outside is easy.

Now that you know how to clean/polish it, you should also think about protecting it when you put your top down to avoid scratches. A simple trick is to take a cotton bath towel, folded under top and bottom so the entire window is covered. Insert top of the towel under the car top piece that overlaps the upper edge of the plexiglass window. The lower fold should align with the bottom edge of the car top. When your top folds down, it will protect against the folds of the plexiglass from rubbing against each other and, most importantly, keep any sand or dirt that may be on the outside surface from rubbing against the plexiglass. I keep my Griot's Dry towel in my trunk. Just an idea.

The cleaner is Meguiars #17 and the polish is #10. Plexus works as well as #10.
