I can understand what most of you are saying, but they way it is right now is not acceptable. If you look at the car from in front or left side, you would think that the color used was something completely different that the one called for, it really is blue(old) and purple(new). Now from the right side there is a little variance that would be acceptable.

I can see the difference between plastic and metal, but the metal and metal should be closer than what I have right now.

Talked to PPG and we are sending the gas door to "PPG's Color Library".

They said that they can analyze the color with the equipment they have and are sure that they can give a perfect match. Just have to wait and see.

I am having the same problem with my Silverstone Metallic. I had the front bumper and Mugen spoiler painted and both are a shade darker. Am I to understand that Honda only uses PPG paint? I think my guy maybe using something else. Please respond.

All I can tell you is that my shop uses PPG and they also got what is called a "Factory Pack" from PPG that had the code color and the code for where the car was build on it.

I just drive my car over to the local auto paint store and they come out with a handheld machine stick it on the paint in a couple of places and it spits out the mix. Worked on three of my metallic vehicles so far, fortunately my S doesn't have any paint issues at the moment.

The paint supply store has already tried to match the color and it was one of the worst.
The hood and LF fender have been painted 5 times, 1st time trying to match using the gas door, 2nd just trying the color code, and 3 & 4 trying to remove some of the colors that are mix to made Suzuka Blue, 5th time using a factory pack which is close but not correct.

Precisely how often can you paint the car or its parts? I'd imagine that at some point in time you'd better strip all the old layers off or it's got to look *really* hideous...

A lot of sanding was done between the painting.

Well the fuel door is on it's way to the PPG Color Library to be test and analyzed.

Tonight at work I noticed the hood and LF fender matched the bumpers, door handles, mirrors and two pieces on the rear deck. I would also bet that the fuel door is same as these other parts.

Could it be the way the paint is applied? I would bet that these pieces are sprayed at a different time than the main body of the car and maybe in a different way.

I was told that matching the primer was important to getting the correct shade on metalic or pearl paint. The bumper covers are hard to match. I have seen several new Honda's with lighter color bumper covers than the rest of the car.
