Default Help a newbie pick better s2k

Hello everyone,

I am a newbie and have been in search for a s2k for myself.
I've had few that got away from my reach but can't seem to escape s2k.

I am in midst of decision and seeking for help from s2k veterans!

Option 1: 2007 with 6,000 miles under 1 ownership who kept the car garaged in 99% of the time for last 2 years. Owner states that he drives it once every month or so around the block so engine doesn't die. Price: $27,500
Option 2: 2008 with 21,000 miles under 1 ownership. Not much more details since it is dealer sold. $29,500

I understand that the market is well overpriced at its max? So not my wisest purchase but heart wants what it wants.

I intend on using the car as daily commuting vehicle but should still be less than 700 miles a month.
I want to be the collector who keeps the car in prestige condition with no modifications.

But if future calls for me to sell it at one point, which do you guys think if a better purchase, value for the buck and would hold higher reselling value?

Many thanks in advance!

I'd go with #1.

If you want to be a car collector, though, you'll have to drive it once a month around the block like the owner of car #1, because people may not pay a premium for a car with a lot of commuter miles in 30 years.

If you buy it, drive it, take care of it, and don't worry about the next owner after you unless you decide to sell.

Definitely #1

Your intended usage is about what I do with mine. I bought it two years ago with 5,800 miles on it. I've currently got about 12,000. I drive it in good weather. No snow and seldom in the rain.

But I do drive it, and love it.

Good luck.

Less mileage with the peace of mind knowing how the previous owner treated the car? And at a lower price? it might be a year older but that definitely sounds like the direction to go, and if it's a private party you might be able to get an even better deal than what hes asking. I don't believe there's much difference between the 2007 and 2008, the 2008 had minor tweaks to suspension? But, I believe the made tweaks to the suspension every year the produced the car.

Chances are you could tell by just talking with the owner to figure out how he treats his car. I'd go with Option 1.

Less mileage and you know the owner, assuming from the conversation you've had with him you could tell if he's genuine. 2007 and 2008 doesn't even matter...it's not like it's 2003 or 2004, or 2004 or 2005.
