Congrats! I've come to really like the blue, personally. You're going to love your car every bit as much as we love ours! We're here to help. There are a varierty of threads on taking delivery, notably to make sure the dealer has done his part to properly prepare your vehicle. You should do a search and read those threads.

Read your owner's manual carefully, and fill in the blank spots in your understanding with a good dose of s2ki.com.

warner,

Congrats on the order. You will not be disappointed in the slightest way. On the VTEC topic: Once you get the car and run it past 600 miles find a quite open stretch of road, come to a stop, select first gear, release clutch, wind gears 1, 2, 3 until the smile cramps your face. Have fun and prepare to become addicted. There was a great thread on the board that I read earlier in the week. It had a perfect description of how VTEC works.

Try this link: http://www.howstuffworks.com/question229.htm

Again good luck with your new car when it arrives and happy reading. This article was great. Big thanks again to MACe for finding it.

Warner,
Now that you've learn how to VTEC! DO NOT down shift (especially more than 2 gears) while you are in the high RPM range! It will damage your engine!

There is no problem to redline the motor in same gear (or going UP a gear - the RPM will drop-). when you pass 9200 RPM the rev limiter will shut off the fuel, but lets say you are already in 4th at 8900 rpm (or above) and shift into the wrong gear like 3rd (or some how into 1st) instead of going into 5th. you WILL kill your engine. Do that make any sense???? Better make sure you get that!

Just wanted to help, if you have no experience with VTEC!
BTW, congrtes on the purchase!

Warner, re S 2000 VTEC. If you purchase an S, you'll soon find out that its not really about how you engage VTEC, but how VTEC engages you!

VTEC Instruction Manual

Step 1: Press the gas pedal
Step 2: There is no step 2

Seriously though, it's like everyone else says. I don't spend a great deal of time over 6K in normal driving but I do broach it when accelerating hard. On the track I never go below 6K (not if I can help it).
