Help ...need extended warranty quickly, thanks!
#11
I have purchased 5 new vehicles and numerous used vehicles. If I had paid $1000 for a warranty on each one, I would be out over $10000. I've never had a repair that was more than $800 on any car. 90% of the repairs I've had to do were wear related and wouldn't be covered by an extended warranty. Do yourself a favor and fund your own warranty. Put the money you would have spent in the bank and save it for car repairs.

It's absolutely a case of YMMV. I have had original warranties on several Detroit irons and the most recent one (Mercury Sable) had 2 engines and 3 transmissions replaced/rebuilt, the last few replacements were not under warranty but should have been. When I've bought new Hondas, my rationale was that if Honda would give me a 7 year, bumper-to-bumper, no deductible warranty for $800, I would take it in a heartbeat. If they can build a car that never needs repairs, they deserve the extra $800. If (as in the case of my Detroit irons) they couldn't, then they would bear the burden.
I've spent FAR MORE than $10,000 on repairs to various vehicles (not Honda) and would have been better off with full warranties.
My current dilemma is with my S2k MY07 that is having the VSA module replaced ($2400) and the "Steering Angle Sensor" replaced ($???) under original warranty. The original warranty runs out in about 5 months and I'm debating whether to purchase an extended warranty.

I don't recommend AUL extended warranty. Just left honda dealership service department. Cost 1885.00 for new cluth and flywheel. I was just trying to stop the clutch buzz so I could sell. The technician said he also had to do realignment at a cost of 125.00 as he had to mess with the front alignment to get to this assembly. I had to replace radiator last year. I am not sure honda is the way to go anymore. After my family and I have had four of them, they are starting to cost as much as American. I got the best AUL extended warranty available and it does not cover flywheel, and I already knew it would not cover clutch parts or labor.

Honda/Toyota still have the lowest operating costs per mile.

You just simply got ripped off. It is called a "Stealership" for a reason. If you can't do the repair yourself find a local s2ki member who offers repair service on s2k's. Most areas have one or two that do great work. Clutch job should be around $400-500 or so. Oem clutch and bearings is a few hundred. Should be at most half of what you paid at the dealership.
