I know I can get data logs off my old car, which used Bosch's ME-Motronic 7.1 engine management systems. I also had a MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC scan too that was able to interface with the cars onboard systems, and the dealership knew that I had them. When I brought the car into the dealership, *I* told them what the problem was, and what I wanted them to do to fix it. I was never denied warranty coverage in the time that I had that car.

You can also erase the ECM memory with most MANUFACTURER SPECIFIC scan tools. The others are just OBDII, and that's absolute garbage.

My old scan tool:

I don't know what your friend does at a "Honda Dealer" (salesman, secretary, mechanic, etc) but he is wrong. If you "blow up" your engine and the CEL kicks in, the PGM will be able to read the last few seconds before the car gives out. I've seen the PGM in action and it can/does diagnose and read the parameters of the ECU.

BBB is pis-ant stuff. Go straight to the State Capital State's Attorney or Consumer affairs departments - they can refer you - I had good luck in Virginia - they went down and asked questions and took names, and just having a state govt official down there spooked Mitsucrapshi into fixing the leaking tranny on my GSX.

Are you sure? - I know you can clear codes with the scantool, but often the forensics are in a different flash memory that is not accessible in the OBD II protocol.

I checked my AutoXray 6000 which is pretty much a State of the Art device, and it has no prvosion to do this.

I have a question. If the car was going fast enough to cause a mechanical over-rev to 15K RPMs, wouldn't the rapid engine braking lock up the wheels and send the car off the road? If you downshift without rev-matching, you get a little jolt. I would imagine this would be rather violent.

Ok, I have a question. I was under the impression that the car has a rev limiter. There fore making it impossible to over rev the car. The only way to do this would be to miss a downshift , which he claims he did not do. Therefore it makes it virtually impossible to over rev the car to 15,000 rpm or am i missing something?
