You stand a better chance of getting an 03 for $500 over invoice (which would still be very difficult) than an 04 for that. With all the mag hype on the current S2000, there's bound to be even more on the new S2200, buyers will be lined up ready to buy at MSRP if you don't.

It really makes me laugh when I read through this thread and see some of the "strategy" that people think is going to work for them in negotiating a low price. Most of the "techniques" mentioned will only get you laughed at.

If you want the best deal on a car, try to make friends with the salesperson while taking up as little of his time as possible. Be persistent but be nice. Don't be rude and don't be threatening. Try to negotiate when the salesperson is not busy or has other customers that he could be working with. ( Don't take up 3 hours of his time on a Saturday. Go see him Tuesday or Wednesday.) Promise him referrals. If you can deliver him a referral BEFORE YOU MAKE YOUR PURCHASE, you will be his hero.

Good luck.

I would like to add that there are going to be less than 7800 S2000s brought to North America for MY 04. If you are fortunate enough to be able to afford one and be able to find one, buy it and enjoy it. Please don't let the price consume you. Not only will it ruin your purchase, it will mar your ownership experience. Also know that we don't sell other vehicles ie. Pilot, Element, CR-V, or Odyssey for $500 over invoice and we get about 10 times as many of them as we will get S2000s. In summary, the plans you have will get you no where but pissed off at one or many dealerships that tell you no.
