If the car has flood insurance, a hydrolock is considered flood damage and thus the insurance will pay for it. Happened to my friend's evo 9 MR with 4000 miles on the clock. The only catch for him was that the title was made salvage after it for some reason.

He has no warranty on the 107k mile motor; you think he should get 2 years/24k miles when he has nothing now? That's interesting logic.
So lets hear your great constructive idea on how he can get some assurance that an 80,000 mile junk yard motor with unknown history is equivalent to the motor he had?

Please, share it with it with us? Do you have anything constructive to contribute? We'd love to hear your fantastic and more logical solution.

His current motor is broken because of a CAI. If the other engine runs, it's more than equivalent.

Really, if they pull the head and inspect the retaininers and cylinders, then it's as good as you can expect (and much better than a lot of AP1s running around out there).

I’m really surprised that your insurance is covering this.

So wait he hydrolocked it b/c of his CAI and insurance is covering that? LOL

I'd love to hear the story you gave the insurance company I really hope they catch you for defrauding them...and this guy has the balls to want a new engine
