help insurance and honda dealer
long story short. my car is hydro locked. insurance is paying to fix it.so i thought it would be ok to take it to the dealer.
the dealer is like on their side and wants to put a motor with 80k from a salvage yard in my car. my car has 107k but has never had any problems. i just think its bullcrap and i dont know what to do.
whos to say that the motor they put in my car isnt junk and is just going to have all kinds of problems. its bullcrap and i feel like im getting screwed here. what do you guys think?

Any used motor has the potential for problems.
Insist on a leakdown and compression test on the replacement engine to confirm it's in good condition, and be happy you're getting an engine with less mileage than the one you messed up.

You're not entitled to a new motor, just 'an equivalent replacement'. So a motor w/80k on it is better than a motor with 107k. Some things to do:
--Make sure you get a written guarantee from the junk yard. They should provide a warranty on the engine (months & miles).
--Make sure your insurance comp. will cover another install if the replacement engine dies during the warranty period. Get this in writing!
--Replace the plugs.
--Have the valves adjusted.
--Do compression/leak down tests (after valve adj) to look for problems.
--Change oil (obvious) a couple of times w/in the warranty period and have samples sent out for analysis. Others can tell you more about this. You should be looking for coolant in the oil, as well as any unusual metal amounts. The oil analysis people should be able to compare to other S2000's for a benchmark.
FINALLY, if you don't like the used path, have the insurance company give you the money, then you go buy whatever new parts you need, and you pay the difference.
