what is missing out of the 2000 hit that should be in the 2002 kit ? installing soon and seen that the relay socket was empty. where is it ? I seen the 2002 kit cost more why ?

ok...I have a 2002 model that has a defrost switch factory installed...well the hardtop kit I have...has a relay...do I need this relay?..."the socket" for the relay is empty anyway...so wtf?

are you sure this is the 1st year the spa yellow has been in the us ? I was thinking this was the 1st year of the blue.

 

There is no such thing as a 2000 spa yellow hardtop, since the yellow came out in 2001.

 

Spa came out in the US in 2001. Ican't answer your question about what's in the kit you have as I don't have a hardtop (though I wish I did). Talk to the dealer you bought it from and ask them what's up. Long shot I know...

 

On the book that came with my spa yellow hardtop it says "2000 S2000 hardtop install" Maybe this one shouldn't have come from japan ? does anyone have the book that came with your hardtop. would you look on the back of it and tell me what year it says ?

 

I just dug my book out, the date on the back also says "2000 /S2000 removable hardtop". I know that they order your hardtop by your VIN#, so I am sure you got the right one. We had ours dealer installed, took them several hours.

I understood that hardtops before 2002 had a VIN plate. If there's no plate anywhere (I don't know where they usually put it) then it's probably a MY2002.

The VIN plate came in a plastic bag and was available only to US customers (I whined about it and they made one for me in Canada). The instructions says to stick it dead center at the bottom of the rear window frame. The harness with the plug for the rear defroster should be in one of the box of "goodies" that comes with the top (along with other internal trim pieces and hardware).

 

Should the 2002 hardtop have a rear defrost button with it being it uses the one on the dash ?

 

Can't be sure but I think you just answered your own question. I vaguely recall another thread that said it uses the same button so I can't see why it would send you another one unless it's just packaged that way.

 

This is the correct answer to your question. No VIN plate on the hardtop, then it must have been manufactured MY2002 or later.
