Help! Gas Crisis in Georgia!
#21
I think the reason why they have gas shortage is due to the hurricane that happen 3 wks ago.It probably did some damage to the refinery.
Imagine if the shortage of gas happen to everyone...it would be a major disaster. This could be a foreseen future.

funny, we're doing alright here.
actually, before Ike hit, all these idiots in san antonio bought up all the regular octaine. Valereo decided to drop the prices of 93, so I was able to get it cheap.
but as for georgia's current crisis:

The shortage is worse in some areas due to their location relative to various refineries and due to epa rules that limit the exact gas formulations that can be run in a given area. For example Atlanta is critically short on low sulfer gas. The EPA temporarily relaxed these rules late last week to try and ease the local shortages.
Yes, you can mix UNLEADED 100 octane race fuel to improve your octane.
Don't waste your money on octane boosters. Just keep the rpms down until you can run some premium through her.

this is what it's like at every station with gas. it doesn't matter the time of day either.

Read the manual -- it says that if you have no option it is acceptable to put a lower octane gas into the car, but it is not preferred and you should return to 91 octane or above as soon as you are able to.
Like others have said, if knock is detected, the knock sensor will detect it and the ECU will back off timing to compensate for the lower octane gas.
It isn't preferred, but in this situation its fine to do. Like others have said, I would avoid hitting VTEC and overall revving the engine more than necessary.

I agree with what most everyone has said. You should be fine with the lower octane as the ecu will compensate for it. Just make sure you take it easy during this period and fill up with premium ASAP. Octane booster will of course help as well.
I hope this crisis will end as we all will be effected soon enough.

I would severely advise against this as the lead will destroy your catalytic converter.
