Default Help, Driveshaft(?) Vibration from 6-7K rpm?!?

Doing a little second gear pull last night my friend pointed out there is a thumping vibration that I think may be my driveshaft from six to seven thousand rpm. Does anyone else know about or have experienced this problem?

note: my car has been lowered so the driveshaft / rear end angle could be different.

Although it could be a bad propshaft joint, it is more likely that you have one or more CV joints gone south.

oh great, so this is something I will need to replace soon or can I ride it out? I know the vibration is very tame and only at that rpm, my passenger had to point it out to me for me to notice it. There is no noise or any other problems but the vibration, how bad of a problem could this be doc?

If it's one of the things I suggested, it won't get any better but will continue to get worse. The problem of leaving it alone is that it could lead to damage of other connected parts, the rear diff to name but one. If you don't drive it to the point of causing this vibration, you might be able to leave it for a while but I think that you will find it easier and easier (with less effort) to cause the vibration. Mainly, the CV joints vibrate upon moderate to hard acceleration. An inspection of these components would be a wise decision. Repair can come later depending upon the findings.

Check out the balance of the rear tires.....I thought my problem was the shaft until I got new rear tires....then the problem was gone...

also check the wheel nuts. I had a similar problem and under acceleration everything was fine but if I cruised it felt like a punctured tyre or LSD failure.
