Help! Door Ding, Scratch or Dent???
Had my door dinged a couple of days ago and it looked liked a long scratch about a half inch wide, like another car's bumper rubbed against it. Looking at it from different angles it didn't look like the door was dent.
I showed my dad and he said no problem and took out a tube of some kind of rubbing compound that gets out scratches. He rubbed some of the stuff on with a clean cloth and the scratch seemed to come out just fine. However, now when I look at the door head on I can see a little distortion in the door the same width as the original scratch, but when I look at the door from other angles I can't see a dent.
So my question is, is the door really dented or did the rubbing compound change the way the paint reflects light in the area of the scratch?
