Default HELP!! Cutting into the dashbroad??

I'm looking into mounting the V-AFC into the dashboard. Of course this would involve cutting into the dash and so on.... So I need to know if there's space behind the dash section, above the radio and the vents.

I remember seeing someone install a GPS/NAV system into the dash like the RHD cars but I can't find him just doing a search. I think he was from the NY/ NJ area but i'm not sure.

Any help would be great I really want to mount it into the dash so I don't take up and cabin space...not to mention it would look sweet-IMO.

Thanks in advance
DK

Another option is installing it on the radio door (just to the right of the radio knob). It will not be flush, but it only sticks out about .2". I can no longer get picture of it b/c I relocated it due to radio upgrade...

Here's the thread on shaner's nav system --> https://www.s2ki.com/forums/showthread.php?...=&threadid=7402 Unfortunatly the pics are photopoint based

Yes there is a compartment behind the dash for a nav system. Shaners setup is sweet, too bad the pics are gone. I'd send a PM or email and ask him to send you the pics and get advice.

Hey Darknight...I'm looking to do the exact same thing. If you find anything out, could you post it! I will do the same. I think the VAFC would look really sweet custom mounted in our dash.
Thanks man,
-Brandon

There is quite a lot of room where I mounted the IVA-C800 (plenty for a VAFC). I definitely would prefer mounting it in the face of the stereo door. Plus the stereo door is a lot cheaper if you don't like the install (or messed up). Sure the dash is only $300 but changing it out by a dealer would cost as much if not more than $300 (I modified the way the front main vehicle wiring harness is placed so my dash goes in and out much faster)
