Help! Can scratches be buffed out of MY02 shift knob?
I need to know if these scratches can be buffed out and if so, using what type of wheel / buffer / drill attachment. Also, what type of compound / polish to use... They are not extremely deep (dropped the knob on the garage floor from an overhead height, causing the scratches - ouch) but hand-buffing did not remove them
TIA!
TIA!

Probably the only way to do that will involve the use of a machine which will remove some metal and risks leaving a flat spot.
I'm amazed at the concentric lines and marks in the stock knob when seen up close.

The '02-'03 shift knobs appear to have a clear coat or bright dip anodize on them which might make it more difficult to get the scratches out than the raw alumimun or titanium knobs. I chuck mine up in a drill, then use a very fine fingernail sanding stick. To chuck it, I take apart an ultra-fine point Sharpie and use the butt end of the body (the black part on the right), the knob will thread onto to it enough to spin it up in the drill.
