Don't mean to bring up an old post, but I would just like to give some more people a chance to see this problem.

Well, the "sputtering/misfiring" thing happened to me early last evening. I called joes2k and he recommended the removal of the map sensor and lightly tapping it. I also unplugged my battery and plugged it back in. The solution worked like a charm...and I hope the problem doesn't come back.

This problem kinda reminds me of the Nintendo "blow", anyone remember what that is?

Phantom,

Glad to see the "tapping" solution worked for you.

I can report that I am still problem free with no more hesitation since my 5 minute "repair"!

If you had cats and a nintendo, you know what the Nintendo Blow is. I had three cats. :eek1

Back on topic: Glad I searched for this. I bailed running in a sweet AutoX last weekend cause my S started doing this on the way down. Can't wait to try the "tap and pray" technique tomorrow.

Hey everyone, just wanted to say thanks to this site. I had been having the sputtering problem for almost 2 months making me very pissed off, then finally I saw this page, went outside, found the mapsensor which is very easy to find, unplugged the wire, didnt even unscrew it, blew into the contact points of the connector and lightly tapped the sensor with a screwdriver, plugged it back up, then off I went with 100% vtec performance, god I love this machine! This car is a true work of technological art, and I love pulling up next to Z3s and porsche boxsters, blow them away! Thanks everyone for the great input.

Should be as simple as unplugging, blow on contact points, tap sensor lightly with a screwdriver then plug back up and go.
