heat drops on highway!
its so strange, i saw so many people complain that the car over heats, not lose heat! when i drive in highway speeds the heat drops! the normal heat levels in an s2k will make three bars as shown in the heat gauge.. some times it drops to two and even only one!!
what do u think is the cause of this? i went to the dealer twice to check on this problem and they say everything is fine!
would it damage the engine when the rpm is high and the heat is low?
what can i do to fix this?
and when the heat is low the revs are limited to 7k rpm by ecu bcz it thinks the car is running cold (not always) i cant exceed 7k rpm!! imagine me driving the car for a hour then the heat drops and i cant make hard acceleration!!!!!
please help

I'm guessing the thermostat failed open allowing coolant to flow too freely through the radiator for driving conditions. Should be an easy replacement, but I have not done one on an S2000.

but the damn dealer is not conviced that its the thermostat!

Have you checked the coolant level?? A low coolant level will give you a bad reading, also check the sending unit it's self. The other thing you can do is get a hold of someone with a hand held scanner and plug it in and go for a ride. when the car starts/look like it's running cold see what the scanner says.
Good luck

ECT sensor might be bad? You said it changes i bet it could be that or the sensor is grounded properly. My Nissan does that but it doesnt bother me i would check the sensor.

It's your thermostat. I had the same problem recently. The rubber seat on the stat was ripped keeping some flow going through.
If your stupid mechanecks have a heat gun, have them shoot the rad. It will then be obviouse it's the stat.

Replace the thermostat and tell us if that fixes it. I am interested in this thread.
